Canine Coaching Institute's Reactive Dog Class is for dogs that have issues being around other dogs. If your dog barks, lunges and growls at other dogs, this class is for you. You will learn how to work with your dog in these settings using reward based training so that your dog has a positive association and experience with these environments rather than a negative one. In order to be ready for this class your dog must ideally have gone through one of our behavior modification packages or at the very least had an evaluation by one of our Canine Coaching Institute trainers to ensure that the dog is safe and ready to be in class.
A few of the things you and your dog will learn in this class:
→ How to manage emotions when seeing triggering things and scenarios
→ How to associate other dogs with positive things instead of negative (counter conditioning)
→ Techniques to manage when something unexpected happens or you need to prevent your dog from practicing a certain behavior
→ How to have a relaxing walk that doesn't involve pulling towards other dogs or people
→ How to redirect your dog's focus and attention onto you and fun things rather than dogs and things he wants to react to.
This class is held once a week for 5 weeks. Each session is 1 hour long. Please see the registration page for the available class times.
Be sure to check out our Terms and Conditions page for information regarding registration policies, health requirements, etc.
At Canine Coaching Institute, LLC we are force, pain, fear and dominance free which means that we do not use tools or methods that inflict physical or psychological pain or discomfort on a dog. Instead we focus on positive reinforcement of desired behaviors using rewards such as treats, praise and toys. This lays a foundation for trust between the handler and the dog and will help promote a spirit of cooperation in the relationship. We offer private in-home training, group classes, minor to moderate behavioral training and specialty training such as therapy and service dog training. We pride ourselves in being flexible trainers that can find ways to work with practically any type of dog.
